Grease, by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey, is a 1971 musical set in 1959 at the fictional Rydell High School, following the romance of good girl Sandy Dumbrowski and greaser Danny Zuko as they navigate high school life, friendship, and peer pressure with a rock 'n' roll score. Known for hits like "Summer Nights" and "Greased Lightnin'," the show captures the look and sound of 1950s youth culture, originally premiering in Chicago before becoming a Broadway and West End hit, and later a famous film. The school version became available at a later time and removes any suggestive material and explicit language from the original musical.
